This dialogue was very interesting. A great rending of the story of Merlin, wrapped in the history of medieval Wales, the mythology of the Mabinogion and a great continuation of the Pendragon cycle by Lawhead. But after two chapters it somehow didn’t translate into a gripping narrative. Rather than the mysterious and morally ambiguous figure of many Arthurian treatments, this version of Merlin bursts with life, passion, and great moral authority.

After that, the rest of the book follows the part of merljn legend that most of us know well and for me became tedious at times since I knew what was coming.

I love how Atlantis is worked into the early beginnings of a King Arthur tale.

His efforts at building suspense were completely lost on me and I never once developed an affinity for his protagonists. Born of a union between druid and faery, he was trained as a bard and schooled in the ways of battle.

This book definitely had a darker tone to it, which I could melin as I was reading it. Gwalchavad was a great person to hear lawhaed story from especially with Morgian’s veiw sporatically added in.

You never know what will happen next. Yeah, it goes like that. There is not one clear-cut plot in the normal sense, but rather a clear theme that carries through myriad events, and which we know will only culminate in the final book of the series.

Considering if Arthur existed he likely lived around This five-book series is entitled The Pendragon Cycle, and I will review them all here.

That is part of the appeal of the Legend. I highly recommend the Pendragon Cycle for everyone interested in Arthurian legend. It is specially true to Arthur, who was a flawless semi-god in the previous books, but now he has to regrets some of his reckless decisons and has to deal with betrayal.

This has something of the same effect produced in the various episodes of the old Xena, Warrior Princess TV series, in which Xena could lawheead everybody from the biblical Merlij to Julius Caesar.
