It was okay, and I might get around to reading the second half. One use of “bitch. He knows his chances of success are slim after being crippled, but it’s much more than that.
She reminds me of Nuriko from one of my favorite anime, Fushigi Yuugi only uglier. I can’t wait to see what Eona CAN do in the next book! Goodman fleshes out the Japanese- and Chinese-inspired bj world with textures and colors, superstitions and mythology.

But the true jewel in this novel is Eon’s conflict to embrace herself. The aristocracy here is full of liars and backstabbers and people out for what they could get. Does that make it different or dratoneye to handle?
The reader could clearly see what was going on, but the character was blind, deaf and dumb to all things logical all the way until the last chapter!!!! He was my emperor. The big themes in this novel centre on sexuality, gender roles and personal identity so get ready to get a little confused about whether you need to pee standing up or sitting down.
This eob also falls into that somewhat narrow category of YA fantasy suitable for older readers that doesn’t have a romantic sub-plot. Because women are considered weak and valued less than men, it is vital that Eon never reveals her true identity.
Not only is she given the unlucky number of death, 4, but she has to face off with the one out of the two trainers who bears a grudge against her. The book does lean in to a couple of fantasy tropes, but they are ones that I love, and everything around aison is so well done, it doesn’t matter.
