Like many young men and women of the period, I was terrified and alienated by the actions of the prevailing culture, which seemed to have gone mad; the Castaneda books were a desperately needed antidote to tesegrity world view that felt increasingly mechanistic and dispiriting. Carlos, whom I hadn’t seen in years, was distant; Donner wasn’t, and we chatted for much of the evening. Later ccarlos were more critical, with several critics positing that the books were fabrications.
But each encounter was in fact a teaching exercise.
Carlos Castaneda has written about his apprenticeship with don Juan in nine best-selling books, beginning with The Teachings of don Juan: He spoke of this subtle change as a “touch of the spirit”; as if practitioners, through the movements, reestablish an unused link with the life force that sustains them.
He said Don Juan had given it to him to give to me with explicit directions as to how I must polish it. But some of those who knew him well have arrived at a provisional answer. He did have profound experiences of his own. carpos
Among the infinitude of things that don Juan taught me were some bodily movements which were discovered and used by the shamans of ancient Mexico to foster states of profound physical and mental well-being.
But these increasingly fantastic stories of multiple sorcerer’s apprentices were hard to swallow whole, leading some to conclude that many of Castaneda’s stories also may have been tensegriry falsehoods.
Each of his other students has a set of magical passes cadlos exclusively to them, exclusively geared to each of their energetic configurations – to their personalities.
It will be conducted by a team of two Tensegrity instructors who have been working in close contact with Carlos Castaneda for at least ten years. Why weren’t these movements mentioned in your earlier books?
Don Juan explained to me that in specific states of heightened awareness called dreaming, those men and women were able to reach levels of optimum physical balance. He also engaged caflos elaborate role-playing that he pushed to the point that I think he could no longer tell the difference.

Next year marks the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of The Teachings of don Juan; Simon and Schuster will publish a special thirtieth-year edition of the book, complete with a new preface from the author.
We would sometimes go to the movies. There was controversy when it was revealed that Castaneda may have used a surrogate for his cover portrait. Eventually we lost contact.

That proof hinges on the credibility of Don Juan as a being and Carlos Castaneda as a witness. It was like something you’d imagine seeing in a science-fiction movie, but we actually saw it happen.
I met Donner in when she accompanied Castaneda to a dinner party given by Jacques Barzaghi, Jerry Brown’s longtime adviser.
When confronted by correspondent Sandra Burton about discrepancies in his personal history, Castaneda responded: Besides, getting an anthropology degree from U.
So in keeping with the terms of legalities and record-keeping that the world of everyday life requires, Carlos Castaneda was declared to have died. I took the advice to heart and chatted up my Karmann Ghia, which obliged me by running tenseegrity fumes, if necessary, for the next 13 years.
