There’s Enid, Philip’s aunt and one of the oldest residents in the entire building and then there’s Lola Fabrikant who is a 22 year old woman who comes to New York to meet potential husbands and who ends up living with a good for nothing guy just like her. The way they brought in Samantha Jones was particularly interesting — partially in candaxe to how she is in the television show Sex and the City, but illustrating why she is how she is in that series.
Mindy also has a son Sam who is 13 and feels he needs to be nice to everyone in the building because of his libroz behaivor. The most normal character in the book was an adolescent boy. Now, you can read what Carrie was like before she moved to the Big Apple. As she continues bushmell on her play, she comes to some conclusions about herself and the others around her. I won’t drop everything to read it, but I will get to candaace eventually. If it was earlier or later, it might have been easier to relate to. The sexual politics, real estate theft, the thirst for power and social prominence are all freshly presented and uncannily described.
The author is obviously trying to capitalize on the success of the series with these new SATC-themed books, and I don’t blame her a bit for that. If it weren’t for the ties I already had to the main character, Carrie, I may not have really gotten in to this story. candacf The book is not as bad as some people on here comment it to be but When she returns home or a friend comes to visit her, they clearly know she has changed. And let us not forget the filthy rich and high and mighty upstairs. But knowing who Samantha and Miranda become made this much more interesting for me. Bushnell was using Mr. Walt, “The Mouse,” Lali, and Maggie. There is quite a lot of sex in the story, but none of it is overly graphic or specific.
Instead, it is mostly everyone talking about sex and virginity as opposed to Bushnell “showing” it. Carrie’s first run-in with Sebastian when they were young was not terribly promising, but he is still as hot as she remembers.
Just the language he used like “kiddo” kept making me think of Big and not really enjoy or take the character seriously.
This sequel was much better than the first book for me because I got a chance to see Carrie in NYC, but it still wasn’t a phenomenal book. I just finished reading this book and read Carrie Diaries right before it. Reminds me of my senior year, and my dreams of becoming a writer; the dream is still out there, waiting for me to make it happen.
And let’s face it – what about her sweet yet insane David Duchovny boyfriend? Otherwise, this is only a mediocre story at best.
I guess she had to start somewhere, and that somewhere is high school. I really enjoyed reading about the crazy adventures of Carrie and her friends.
