I appreciated his recipes and recommendation to add certain foods to your diet to increase your athletic endurance and overall health. Whilst I can imagine this being a primer for some I do think the message is easier after having read a li A great book for those serious about eating for optimal performance. I think this is my most fave of all my vegan books that are really designed for athlete’s.

Simpler amino acids from plant sources like spirulina, hemp, chlorella and lentils produce a much lighter load on the body and can speed recovery. Eating all the bread at restaurants before the meal totally resonates with me – that was the hook that got me in. However, I wanted to learn more of what to eat regarding training. I read the book and went -mostly raw- vegan overnight. I totally agree with Mr Brazier about the only realistic ways to eat being ones where you eat healthy food but don’t go crazy counting calories of macronutrients. That would at least have been interesting to read instead of all this pseudo-science that he puts in here. He helped create the Wolverine diet, which Jackman stuck to whenever he wanted to get ripped.

I saw this book recommended on a number of sites, so I decided to pick it up at the library, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Anyway, I would, despite the 3 stars, recommend this book to anyone interested in veganism, especially vis-a-vis athleticism.
