Even though I knew the ending I really didn’t want to finish this–the new final chapter is heartbreaking all over again. Kurt that was constructed after he killed himself that it was interesting to get a glimpse of what the actual guy was like, to see that he was kind of an arrogant dick which is what I would expect from a rock star in his 20s who is also a drug addict who was obsessed with subcultural purity, but to also see that he was really thoughtful and smart underneath the crust of dirty hair and junkie sweat.

It;s very honsestly written, never trying to portray anyone unrealistically. Up to this day Nirvana is my favorite band ever and it is favorite of mine since I’ve heard it when I was 12 years old. For kids who lived through grunge and are now adults, maybe Nirvana’s ultimate legacy is the contrast between Kurt and Dave. Write a customer review. I’ve read this book probably three or four times since It’s great from someone who grew up in the s because I remember a lot of the events that took place during the height of “Nirvanamania” The only thing that bugged me a little was that Kurt really was the central foc I couldnt put this book down!
They appealed to outsiders everywhere, and they appealed to me. Given the type of person Cobain was, I think it is crucial ws anyone azerrad about this man would need to know him and gain his trust like Azerrad apparently did because he got a lot of juicy morsels of truth from that man and it helped in understanding meanings afe the songs he did and how he lived his life. What I was disappointed with, however, is just one sentence, in sory final chapter which was added after Kurt Cobain’s suicide where the writer says that not one NIRVANA song ends on a fade-out what about Negative Creep?!
It can also be a little confusing because the book i think was written before his death, and later a final chapter was added, so there’s no insight as to where the reast of the key players are now Maybe the origin of the songs has no deep meaning or origins. It is written prior to the suicide of Kurt Cobain, so mixhael.come is not treated as a postmortem deity.
This book was recommended to me by goodreads —thanks good reads! Suddenly the whole world is asking for insight into his genius and scrutinizing his life choices. The impact axerrad Nirvana is undeniable as it is witnessed in this book. Kurt emerges as a complicated, contradictory guy.
Years afterwards, I have my guitar. Dave never wanted to fight with Kurt. He went on many tours with the band as well.

Jul 03, Marco rated it it was amazing Shelves: The obvious example is their album Nevermind yes, the one with “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” but you seriously should try the rest of ita sudden commercial success that Kurt never listened to again once it came out — he hated the polished, sanitized post-production sound clearly intended for a mainstream audience. Like I said, this biography is absolutely amazing and worth reading. One of the first non-fictions I ever tried to read over a subject I was obsessed with at the time so there was little doubt that michasl.come would be a great read for me at the time.
