Volume Keys not working after uninstalling VolumeX
June 30, 2010 09:55AM
I needed to uninstall Volumex 2.0.2.1 and right after that (and restart) the Volume keys are not working anymore.

It would be nice to have this issu fixed ;-)

The HTC Notification screen pops up (which ist standard) But the hardware volume keys are now working like cursor keys (Up and Down)

Touch HD

I noticed that the HTCVolumeControl.dll has been overwritten by a Zero lenght file. This is the reason.
I'd suggest you to write a small setup.dll with the standard "Install_Init" and "Uninstall_Exit" library functions and make a backup of the HTCVolumeControl.dll when installing and restore it in case of uninstall.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa924308.aspx for a skelleton

The HTCVolumeControl.dll is restored upon Volumex uninstall. Maybe something went corrupted when installing or reinstalling.
You can get the dll here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2964779
